Huge Colourpop Haul – Ultra Blotted, Satin, Matte, Glossy and Lippiestix
If you’ve ever placed an order on Colourpop, you know the difficulty of deciding which ones of the hundreds of colours to choose from. Prior to hitting the “purchase” button, I spent two weeks searching up swatches online, still to find the colours different to what I expected when I received my order in the mail. I find that swatches helped me determine what shades I would be purchasing so this post will be very swatch heavy!
This post will have swatches, look-a-likes, dupes, and favourites – everything I wish I had seen while I was making the purchase.
Colourpop has always been a mystery to me – in fact, shopping online in general has been foreign to me before this Colourpop order. Something about the long wait times, unexpected duties or fares, and the possibility of cracking or mishandling of products prevented me from venturing into that territory. With that being said, I was drawn in by the great sale, which resulted in two back-to-back Colourpop orders, accompanied by an order on The Ordinary’s website (stay tuned for that!).
Warning – the majority of the haul are nude lip products…I’ve warned you!
In this blog post, I will go over:
- Look-a-likes – Shades that I would not buy both of
- Dupes: Buy this, not that
Starting this post on a light note – a simple swatch fest of all the products I purchased.
If I could make my order again, I would only buy one of the shades in each of the photos below, because they are too similar to have multiple of. I’ll indicate my preference underneath each photo.
First of all, I recieved two mini satin lips in the shade STRIP accompanying my order due to a promotion Colourpop was having at the time. Funnily enough, both of the STRIPs looked different. Although the difference is miniscule (as seen below), the one on top is my perfect medium brown nude, while the one on the bottom makes me look sickly pale.
Another thing to note is that I noticed that the AQUARIUS Satin Lip looks the exact same as the bottom STRIP. are two shades that look EXACTLY THE SAME. I’m tempted to say that they just messed up the packaging because there is absolutely nothing different about the colour or formula. STRIP and AQUARIUS are both a warm, peachy nude with a white base that washes me out.
Within my haul, I also noticed that BRINK Matte Lippiestix and CALYPSO Ultra Satin Lip are very similar. Although they are not the same colour completely, if I could redo my order, I would only purchase BRINK, because CALYPSO is a little too warm for my taste, and is very similar to MONDAY Ultra Matte Lip once it is applied to the lips, which I prefer over CALYPSO (side-by-side swatches of BRINK and CALYPSO are seen above). You may have a colour similar to this in our collection already! Check out the “Dupes” section below for swatch comparisons.
Another two colours that are very similar are TOOTSIE Matte Lippiestix and TRAP Ultra Matte Lip. Tootsie leans more brown while Trap first applies light taupe, and soon darkens to a purple toned cool taupe once it dries down. I personally prefer brown in my lip products, so I would only purchase TOOTSIE from these two lippies. ITOOTSIE is a very unique colour that I don’t have at a dupe of in my collection. You may have a colour similar to this in our collection already! Check out the “Dupes” section below for swatch comparisons.
Dupes: Buy this, not that
This section will compare my Colourpop lip products with other shades that I already have in my collection from other brands. Online swatches will not always be true to how the colour will look on your unique skin tone. I’m hoping that if you also have one of the shades from other brands below, you can see how the shade looks on me compared to your skin tone. That way you will have a better understanding of how the Colourpop lippies may look like on you.
As seen below, the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in the shade 40 is nearly identical to Aquarius 2 Ultra Matte Lip. If Too Faced Liquified Longwearing Melted Matte lipstick in Cool Girl is too cool on you, a slightly warmer, mauve option is Aquarius 2.
Next up is my collection of red-ish neutral browns. Following in the cult-classic Kat Von D Lolita’s footsteps, I found that several shades from Colourpop also fall under the same category of red browns.
I am fascinated by Colourpop TOOTSIE Matte Lippiestix for a reason. I can’t seem to find anything else in my collection that has the same purple-y grey undertone. Milani’s Liquid Lipstick in Adorable was the closest thing I could find.
My favourite formula is the Colourpop Ultra Satin lip. It is comfortable on the lips, does not emphasize my lip lines, and although it is not transfer-proof, it still lasts a very long time before fading. If you have an Ultra Matte that you like the colour of but prefer the formula of the Ultra Satins, I recommend putting a gloss over the Ultra Mattes. This way, they will have the same comfortable long-wearing formula as the ultra satins without settling into lip lines or drying out the lips.
The following are the most used products of my haul. If you have a similar skin tone to me (cool, light-medium), this may be helpful.

That’s it folks! Thanks so much for taking the time to scroll through this picture-heavy post. Do you have any Colourpop recommendations for me?
